Small ammonia refrigeration plants: project status.

Author(s) : HANSEN S.

Summary

The Danish EPA is of the opinion that "natural refrigerants" will take a stronger position in the future. Because of this the Agency has given support to a project on introduction of ammonia for small refrigeration systems. An analysis of the market in Denmark shows that the total potential for remote plants in the area of 0-75 kilowatts is approximately 150,000. An analysis of business areas and types of plants suggests that the primary field of application will be cold storage rooms within retail, service and public institutions. The project includes construction of a plant in the laboratory and several demonstration plants. The goal is to find good and safe solutions.
