Summary
Describes 4 kilowatts, ammonia-based supermarket refrigeration plant in Denmark. The purpose is to demonstrate the use of ammonia in small-scale refrigeration plants. Furthermore tests have been made to investigate the use of aluminium alloy in place of steel for the piping. The tests showed a reduction in energy consumption of 16% as compared to operation with R12. The use of aluminium alloy requires improved assembly methods. Concludes that ammonia is a correct choice for small-scale refrigeration plant.
