Solar refrigeration with the year 2000 on the horizon: utopia or reality? Applications for activated carbon-methanol adsorption.

Le froid solaire à l'aube de l'an 2000 ; utopie ou réalité ? Applications de l'adsorption charbon actif-méthanol.

Summary

Adsorption is exothermic. This property makes it possible to use an adsorbent in the same manner as a compressor in a refrigerating appliance. The energy source can then be the sun. Recent studies are listed and experience acquired during the 1980s is described. An essential component of performance is the highly variable nature of available solar energy.
