Solid adsorbents in open sorption systems for thermal and energetic applications: performance and stability.

Author(s) : HAUER A., LÄVEMANN E.

Summary

An appropriate solid adsorbent for open cycle heat pumps and guidelines for new adsorbent design for this application have to be found. In order to characterize adsorbents concerning their thermal and energetic performance, calculations of the maximum temperature lift and energy density and of their breakthrough curves were carried out. Hydrothermal stability of adsorbents over 400 cycles was experimentally tested. Zeolite 13 X turned out to be the best available material, due to its satisfying thermal performance and stability.
