Some experimental results for a hydraulic refrigeration system (HRS) using n-butane refrigerant.

Summary

The HRS is a vapour-compression system. The compression process is virtually isothermal, which leads to excellent efficiency (COP). Details of the operating principles and of analytical modelling of the system have been reported. Results have been presented for use with several different refrigerants. Herein, the principles and the calculated results are reviewed. A HRS now in operation, using n-butane as the refrigerant, is described. Possible applications for the HRS are discussed, suggested by the low-technology nature and the uniqueness of the process.
