Summary
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT HAS BEEN TO ILLUMINATE THE TECHNICAL, ECONOMIC AND DEVELOPMENT STATUS OF HEAT PUMPS COMBINING AN ABSORPTION PROCESS WITH MECHANICAL VAPOUR COMPRESSION. MECHANICAL VAPOUR COMPRESSION CAN BE APPLIED AT A NUMBER OF POINTS IN AN ABSORPTION OR RESORPTION PROCESS. THE SIMPLEST TYPE, THE MECHANICAL RESORPTION HEAT PUMP, IN WHICH VAPOUR IS COMPRESSED BETWEEN THE LOW AND HIGH-PRESSURE OF A RESORPTION PROCESS, IS OF PARTICULAR INTEREST. THE RESORPTION-COMPRESSION HEAT TRANSFORMER, WITH LOW-PRESSURE BOOSTER, IS THE MOST INTERESTING. IT CAN BE USED WHEN TEMPERATURE LEVELS IN THE HEAT SOURCE AND HEAT SINK ARE UNSUITABLE FOR OPERATION OF A SINGLE-STAGE THERMAL ABSORPTION HEAT TRANSFORMER. COMPETITIVENESS OF THE MECHANICAL RESORPTION HEAT PUMP, THE RESORPTION-COMPRESSION HEAT TRANSFORMER AND THE TWO-STAGE ABSORPTION HEAT TRANSFORMER FOR STEAM PRODUCTION WAS INVESTIGATED. (SYNOP. SWED.
