SPOT COOLING/HEATING AND VENTILATION EFFECTIVENESS.

Author(s) : BROWN C. E.

Summary

THE SUPPLY OF CONDITIONED AIR TO A SPACE IS A NECESSARY FUNCTI ON IN MODERN OFFICE BUILDINGS AND MANUFACTURING PLANTS. HEATING AND COOLING LOADS, VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS, ODOUR AND HUMIDITY CONTROL ALL COMBINE TO ESTABLISH AIR SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS TO A SPACE. THE COMFORT AND FUNCTIONAL PARAMETERS OF THE OCCUPANTS AND EQUIPMENT DETERMINE THE DISTRIBUTION WITHIN THE SPACE. THE NEED FOR SPOT COOLING IS DETERMINED BY THE FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE SPACE TO BE CONDITIONED. DESIGN PARAMETERS AND JET DYNAMICS ARE DISCUSSED IN THE PAPER, AND SOME GENERAL APPLICATION RULES ARE PRESENTED.
