The R55,0m Maydon Wharf Fruit Terminal was erected, the equipment installed and commissioned in the record time of 22 weeks. Site works commenced mid October 2003 and the plant was commissioned on 31st March 2004 not withstanding that occupation of part of the site was handed over only in January 2004. The Maydon Wharf Fruit Terminal erected specifically for the cold sterilization of citrus fruits for the Japanese market is built on the site of an old Portnet warehouse on the edge of the Maydon Wharf quay in Durban Harbour.
