THE RAPID FREEZE TECHNIQUE IS BELIEVED TO GIVE REAL TIME REPRODUCTION OF RAPID MOLECULAR EVENTS WITHIN 2 MILLISEC. NEW INFORMATION IS NOW AVAILABLE ABOUT THE CONTRACTIONS OF SKELETAL MUSCLE. THE TECHNIQUE HAS ALSO BEEN SUCCESSFULLY USED IN VISUAL STUDIES OF PROTEINS AND BIOPOLYMERS AND MAY HELP TO RESOLVE THE MOVEMENT OF MOLECULES IN THE SAP AND MEMBRANE OF CELLS. G.R.S.
