Summary

The study is on the propagation process of ice on a solid metal surface. A single ice crystal was used and propagation was started by allowing the tip of the ice to touch the surface in supercooled water. Propagation starts along the metal surface. Parameters such as the degree of supercooling, surface roughness by different degrees of polishing, surface properties determined by the existence or non-existence of oxidation, direction of c-axis of a single ice crystal and thermal properties of the solid material, were selected, and the effect on the velocity of propagation was investigated experimentally.
