Study of a two-phase secondary refrigerant. 2. Experimental analysis of thermal and rheological behaviour.

Author(s) : BEL O., LALLEMAND A.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

The second part of this article presents experimental studies of thermal and rheological behaviour of this ice slurry. Firstly, heat transfer in a brushing surface heat exchanger were investigated. In order to evaluate the heat transfer coefficient between the ice slurry and the wall surface, a suitable correlation is developed. The influence of ice suspension on the pressure losses for ice slurry flowing in straight lengths of tubes and in singularities was studied. Finally, the measurements of temperatures in a storage tank show strong stratification with another distribution of concentration in ice and alcohol.
