Summary
The purpose of this study was to perform unsteady evaluation of the thermal performance of a heat exchanger with frosting and to determine an optimal defrosting cycle. The thermal performance characteristics were examined. A vertical density distribution of the frost layer on the flat plate was shown under forced convection. The structure of the frost is not homogeneous. The reasons underlying these findings are discussed.
