Study of the adaptive control laws for electronic expansion valves in refrigerating machines.

Etude de lois de commande adaptatives utilisables pour des détendeurs électroniques de machines frigorifiques.

Summary

The performances of electronic expansion valves depend very much on the controllers connected to them. These controllers use laws whose complexity depends on the quality of the required control. In order to test two control laws (proportional, integral and derived, on the one hand, and optimal qualitative control, on the other) the authors carried out an experimental study on a refrigerating machine with a variable compressor rotation speed of 1000 to 3000 revolutions per minute, whose evaporator is fed by an expansion valve run by a step motor (set superheat of 7 K). Compressor speeds of 300 to 1000 revolutions per minute led to a 4 K overrun of the set superheat). In this experimental study, after plant start-up, the set superheat was reached, 4 to 18 times faster than with a thermostatic expansion valve.
