Summary

AIR FLOW AND CONTAMINANT DIFFUSION IN SEVERAL TYPES OF CONVENTIONAL FLOW-TYPE CLEAN ROOM MODELS WERE STUDIED BY MEANS OF NUMERICAL SIMULATION. THE INFLUENCE OF THE LOCATION OF SUPPLY OUTLETS AND EXHAUST INLETS ON FLOW FIELDS AND DIFFUSION FIELDS WAS CLARIFIED EXACTLY. THE LOCATION OF EXHAUST INLETS HARDLY AFFECTS THE FLOW FIELDS IN ROOM MODELS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE NUMBER OF THE SUPPLY OUTLETS IS DECREASED, THE FLOW UNITS CORRESPONDING TO THE ELIMINATED SUPPLY OUTLETS DISAPPEAR. THE VENTILATION EFFECTIVENESS OF DIFFERENT ARRANGEMENTS OF SUPPLY OUTLETS IS QUANTITATIVELY ANALYSED. THE ARRANGEMENTS OF SUPPLY OUTLETS IN A CHECKERED PATTERN ARE SUPERIOR TO THAT IN LINED PATTERN FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF CONTAMINANT DIFFUSION.
