Study on geometric parameters in the design of a scroll compressor.

Summary
The major geometric parameters were discussed in the design of large scroll compressor. The geometric analysis method which is based on the shaft rotational angle is presented and it is convenient to study the geometric characteristics for scroll compressor with arbitrary scroll turns. The dynamic analysis was carried out for a number of displacement volumes of scroll compressor with a fixed scroll thickness and the number of scroll turns. The effect of thickness on scroll height and scroll outer diameter was demonstrated. In addition, the effect of scroll height on mass, forces and moment of scroll plate was calculated by theoretical simulation. The calculated results indicated that there is a definite optimum combination of major parameters to obtain the high stability of scroll compressor.
