Summary

For improving the COP of carbon-dioxide water-water heat pump effectively, the paper focuses on the study of the performance of gas cooler. A model of the shell tube type gas cooler was established. The steady imitation of the model corresponding to the real heat pumps was carried out. The calculation results were compared with the test values. Finally both in theory and practice a common conclusion was that the total coefficient of the gas cooler was low at the given parameters of the gas cooler. The reason was that the heat transfer coefficient of the CO2 side was lower than that of the water-side. More developments in the tube-side and structure of gas cooler are needed.
