Supply air terminal devices and ventilation effectiveness.

Terminali per la diffusione dell'aria ed efficienza di ventilazione.

Summary

The ventilation rate provided in the Standard UNI 10339 leaves the kind of installation and the air diffusion system out of consideration; in fact the ventilation rate really involved in internal pollutant dilution fluctuates as a function of the air-diffusion system. To consider this effect, in the reviewing of the standard, the concept of ventilation effectiveness has been introduced; it supplies a type of measurement of the ventilation air flow really used for indoor pollutant dilution, compared with the total supply air flow. As use of a qualitative index to express pollutant dilution would be difficult to carry out, a thermal index designed to put the diffuser air induction performance in touch with the air mixing one is proposed. Ventilation effectiveness becomes a parameter for air diffuser selection that considers their performances, in order to achieve the best indoor air quality.
