Part-load working influence on the seasonal performances of air conditioners.
Influenza del funzionamento a potenza ridotta sulle prestazioni stagionali di condizionatori d'aria.

Summary
The advantages of a correct prediction of the seasonal energy consumption of HVAC systems are multiple. First of all the capability to estimate the energy and economic cost of the management of these plants when confronted with different design options about the building-plant system. The performance of an HVAC system derives not only from the operative thermal levels, but also from the building requirement trend which normally involves frequent reduction of the full capacity. Nowadays, awareness of the importance of part-load working influence on the equipment efficiency is rising. The consequence is the introduction (Italian standard UNI 10963) or the modification of the standards used in testing the equipment under part-load conditions in order to better understand and quantify the part load influence. This paper presents the procedures and the results from their use for the simulation of the building-plant system in order to evaluate the long-term performances of split systems with on-off or modulating control.
