A number of organizations that fund and manage research have been surveyed to ascertain their efforts on heat pump and heat pump related issues. The emphasis was to discover the type of work currently being performed and the institutions involved. The article summarizes heat pump research under the categories alternative refrigerants, controls, ground and water-source heat pumps, alternative cycles and other heat pump issues.
