Summary

A system analysis has been performed on the thermal transistor which can simultaneously provide both chilled water at 7°C and hot pressurized water at 120°C from the exhausted heat at 80°C.  As the absorbents, lithium bromide solution was used at the highest concentration of 64 wt%. The mass and enthalpy balances were considered in the analysis.  The distribution ratio of the water supplied from the condenser to high pressure evaporator on low pressure evaporator was changed from 0.200 to 0.800.  From the results, it was found that the enthalpy ratio of hot water to chilled water increases with the distribution ratio.  However, the coefficient of performance decreased with the distribution ratio from 0.606 to 0.461. This is because the exhausted heat to the high-pressure evaporator increases.  On the other hand, overall exergy efficiency increases with the distribution ratio and it shows 0.569 at maximum in the present condition.
