Summary
The COP of transcritical CO2 cycles especially under higher temperature conditions can be improved with work extracting expansion instead of a conventional expansion device. However, the improvement of the COP requires additional efforts in system design. The realisation of this technology depends on easy manufacturing, and reliable and inexpensive machines.
