Summary
The paper demonstrates how the double-effect LiBr/water absorption cycle can be improved in terms of the system COP. The effect of various improvement methods has been systematically evaluated by the simple cycle simulation. The COP was improved by about 0.12 by increasing the effectiveness of the heat exchangers. Enlarging the concentration difference resulted in a COP improvement of about 0.6. An additional improvement of about 0.10 was obtained by applying additional heat exchangers such as ESX, SCA and RSX. However, it should be considered that an additional increase is required in the UA-values of some system components.
