Partial load performance prediction of parallel-flow double-effect absorption chillers.

Summary

A calculation method to predict partial load performance of parallel-flow double-effect absorption chillers has been developed. This method is based on thermodynamic and hydrodynamic models. The latter takes the solution circuit configuration and solution flow devices into consideration, such as solution pump and valves, therefore, it can be easily used in designing industrial applications. Two types of parallel-flow solution circuits are examined. One has a float valve at the inlet of the high-temperature generator (HG) and the other has a float valve at the inlet of the high- and low-temperature generators (HG-LG). According to the results of a comparison, the flow circuit having the float valve at the HG-LG inlet gives greater COP by 5% than the other circuit produces at a 40% cooling load.
