Systems engineering: probable solution to room temperature magnetic refrigeration system design.

Author(s) : YUCEL A.

Summary

It looks clear that there is going to be some time before we shall see an affordable room temperature magnetic refrigeration (RTMR) product on the market. Many reasons can be put forward for this but we need to discuss it frankly. We have to realize that a RTMR is a more complex system than was first envisaged. Complex systems necessitate the use of special approaches for their successful development. These are techniques that overlap with today's modern product development environment and are difficult to achieve with classical methodologies. There seems to be a difference between the approaches of actual scientists and engineers who are working on RTMR technology and the refrigerator industry. This gap needs to be closed if we are to reach our goal of producing RTMR systems for the whole world.
