t,x-Correlations: a complete image of outdoor temperature and humidity conditions, as a basis to various HVAC calculations.

Author(s) : MASUCH J.

Summary

The importance of t,x-correlations for load- and energy-calculations is described. This manner of describing the temperature and humidity characteristics of a place has several advantages. One has the possibility to check the risk for the chosen selection points in summer and winter. So, one can define different stations with always the same risk. This can be done for temperature and enthalpy so that the results can be listed for different purposes (load calculations, air calculations for coolers, cooling towers). The 2-dimensional information can be used in addition to make a point-by-point energy calculation for special air conditioning systems, it is easy to calculate degree-days for various temperature limits of heating and similarly humidification and dehumidification loads for free to choose humidity levels. VDI intends to add those information directly on the tables. As the work with those tables existing in Germany since 30 years facilitates design of installation and also checking of the energetical behaviour of buildings REHVA has started with VDI an initiative (task force 27) to bring together this kind of information for 100-120 European stations.
