Summary

In order to achieve optimal quality and to ensure a bright future for the TC Sun (cov) variety of plum, various research studies have highlighted the importance of the harvest date and storage conditions. A good compromise between colour, firmness and sugar content is generally achieved from the first week of September. During storage, these criteria can be kept essentially stable at a temperature of 0.5°C for two to three months. Nevertheless, the occurrence of internal browning of the flesh currently limits the storage duration to about one and a half month, particularly for early harvests, and requires careful monitoring. Several postharvest itineraries have already been tested, and will be confirmed during the 2006 harvest season.
