Summary

Initiatives were launched in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland to encourage the development of markets for air-source heat pumps in single-family residences. To maximize customer satisfaction and the success of these programs, technical criteria for the selection of optimal heat pumps and codes of practice and training sessions for their correct design and installation, were developed and implemented. Development of the technical criteria and descriptions of the Codes of Practice, associated Checklists of Mandatory Requirements and Completion Certificates are presented in the paper.
