Termodeck: in-use performance.
Author(s) : WINWOOD R.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Termodeck uses the thermal storage capacity of a given building's structural mass to regulate the building's internal temperatures. Monitoring results are now available from the first UK office building to apply Termodeck in 1994. Extrapolation of the energy consumption in 1997 indicates a saving of around 20% compared with 1995, though the consumption rate is still disappointingly high. Subsequent Termodeck buildings have benefitted from the lessons learned at the Weidmuller interface offices, achieving better annual energy consumptions than the target of 50 kilowatt hours per square metre.
