THE APPARATUS IS A DOUBLE WALLED, HIGHLY EVACUATED, SILVER COATED GLASS DEWAR SUPPORTED IN A RIGID FRAME. THE COVER PLATE MADE OF BRASS HOLDS THE NECK OF THE CRYOSTAT, LIQUID FILL LINE AND VAPOUR OUTLET LINE. THE SAMPLE HOLDER IS MADE OF COPPER FOIL AND THE RATIO OF EMPTY CALORIMETER TO SAMPLE IS MAINTAINED AT 0.11. TEST RESULTS USING THIS APPARATUS HAVE BEEN COMPARED WITH PUBLISHED DATA FOR POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE, POLYETHYLENE AND POLYVINYL CHLORIDE.
