Summary

A 2-watt, 137 K sorption refrigerator which offers significant performance improvements, is currently undergoing performance testing. Powdered charcoal is used as the sorbent and methane as the refrigerant. Expansion is accomplished using a passive Joule-Thomson valve. The test results are presented and a comparison is made to the performance predicted by a detailed second-order analytical model.
