Testing of chemically treated adsorbent air purifiers.

Type of article: Article

Summary

Adsorbent filters treated with specific reagents can be assembled to remove very low concentrations of certain gases. This high purity is needed for the long-term storage of some archival materials. To test such filters, unique test rigs and high sensitivity measuring devices have been set up, to pre-filter the test air stream, verify its purity and monitor the gas concentrations. Some filter characteristics were found to vary with relative humidity. Test results can predict filter life. A.R.T.
