The application of centrifugal compression technology for heat pump applications.
Author(s) : BIANCARDI F. R., BRASZ J. J.
Summary
Centrifugal compressors for cooling and heat pumps have been limited by drive speeds to a minimum capacity of 350 kilowatts. Recent developments use high-speed electric motor or turbine direct drives at 20-40,000 rpm, and capacities down to 70 kilowatts are now in use. New bearing types and impeller shapes are required. Refrigerants are R123, R124, R134a, R152a and others. A.R.T.
