The application of exergy analysis to air cycle plants.

Author(s) : MCGOVERN J. A., MURPHY S.

Summary

Expressions for quantifying the exergy destruction rates within air cycle plants are presented, along with expressions for calculating the overall rational efficiency of a refrigeration or heat pump plant and the rational efficiencies of plant components. The structure of an air cycle plant is described in terms of exergy interactions; for analysis purposes, it was transformed to eliminate recycles. Brief details are given of appropriate theories from exergoecononomics.
