Summary
FCU with FA is still in common use in high-rise buildings in China. According to a study of more than 100 high-rise buildings built or under construction in Shanghai, about 80% have adopted FCU with FA systems. There have been different views on its design among domestic engineers for a long time. The issues mainly include: 1) how do FCU with FA share the load; 2) where should the FA outlet be inside the room, the ceiling or the return air box of FCU; and 3) how to reach the desired concentration of particles and germs, as well as toxic gas with the FCU with FA system. The authors give their own opinions on the issues mentioned above.
