The application of the Stirling cycle to near-ambient temperature refrigeration.

Summary

One alternative for automotive air conditioning currently being discussed is the Stirling refrigerator, which employs only environmentallly benign substances. Results of theoretical and experimental research into applications of Stirling technology show that some losses occur that lead to their COP's being lower compared to vapour compression machines. This can be offset in actual operation by specific advantages, e.g., cool-down behaviour.
