The beneficial application of an overfed R22 system to an existing variable air volume direct expansion close control air conditioning plant.

Author(s) : PEARSON A. B.

Summary

In 1997 four low pressure receiver systems were retrofitted to a building in London, United Kingdom, to improve reliability. The close control requirement of the original specification and the overall system efficiency has to be maintained or improved. The paper describes the analysis of the retrofit, including computer modelling of the AHU coils and analysis of the control system. It details the practical obstacles and the overall effect of the retrofit. Indications are given of the possible application of this technology to various other systems.
