Summary

THE CALCULATION TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THE LIVE WEIGHT OF THE ANIMAL PER M2 (PIGLETS, FATTENING PIGS, CALVES) AND THE COEFFICIENT OF HEAT LOSS (PER M3 OF ROOM). IT BEARS UPON VENTILATION (HOURLY FLOW RATE PER ANIMAL AND AIR DISTRIBUTION), SUMMER COOLING (FINE WATER SPRAY, VARYING WITH OUTSIDE HUMIDITY) AND WINTER HEATING, CONTROL (OF COOLING WATER AND HEATING, WITH RECOVERY OF THE HEAT EVOLVED BY ANIMALS). IN ORDER TO ESTIMATE ANNUAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION, FIVE TYPICAL CLIMATES ARE CONSIDERED: AN OCEANIC CLIMATE, A FATTENING UNIT, WELL DESIGNED FOR 320 PIGS REQUIRING 25,000 KWH ; IN MOUNTAIN, THE BUILDING BEING MORE STRONGLY INSULATED, WITH DRIER AIR, THE CONSUMPTION MIGHT BE NEARLY THE SAME. IN INVESTMENT COSTS + ENERGY, THIS SECOND ITEM AMOUNTS TO 6 TO 10% AT LEAST. IN ORDER TO RECOVER THE HEAT EVOLVED BY THE ANIMALS, THE AUTHOR SUGGESTS A SUPPLY AIR-DISCHARGED AIR HEAT EXCHANGE UNIT ON THE WALLS OF THE ROOM (WOODEN LINING AND PLASTIC FILM BETWEEN THE WALL AND THIS WOODWORK).
