The British rules of thumb.

Les "règles du pouce" britanniques.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The article gives a certain number of ratios used in Great Britain in the general design of air-conditioning and mechanical-ventilation plants. These are completely empirical values (concerning for example the thermal load, the refrigerating capacity, equipment bulk, cost, etc., related to global characteristics such as the total surface of premises to be treated, capacities, etc.). These ratios can serve for preliminary sizing, for example for the establishment of a brief draft. The BSRIA organisation, which gathered these figures, wishes to compare them to similar values used in other European countries. J.R.
