A STUDY ON APPLIANCES AND ON THE BEHAVIOUR OF CONSUMERS INTERESTED IN QUICK FROZEN PRODUCTS IS REPORTED. FIRSTLY, THE APPLIANCE IS EXAMINED TOGETHER WITH THE USE OF DOMESTIC REFRIGERATOR/FREEZERS IN FRANCE; THE NUMBER OF APPLIANCES IN HOUSEHOLDS IN 1987 REACHED 38%. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FREEZER ARE ANALYSED BY THE TYPE: REFRIGERATOR WITH A SIMPLE FREEZER COMPARTMENT (22%), FREEZER INSTALLED ABOVE A REFRIGERATOR (59%) OR UPRIGHT FREEZER (30%); BY CAPACITY (55% LESS THAN 150 LITRES) AND BY THE TYPE OF SHOP FROM WHICH THE FREEZER IS BOUGHT. THEN, FREEZER USE IS STUDIED, EITHER FOR STORAGE OF QUICK-FROZEN PRODUCTS IE 75% OF THE CASES (THE MOST FREQUENTLY CONSUMED PRODUCTS ARE MENTIONED), OR FOR THE FREEZING-QUICK FREEZING OF FRESH PRODUCTS (THE MOST COMMON PRODUCTS REASETOND) FURTHERMORE, THE MOST COMMONLY OCCURRING FACTORS WHICH STIMULATE THE PURCHASE OF A FREEZER ARE ANALYZED.
