The design, development and qualification of the SCIAMACHY radiant cooler.
Author(s) : WIGBERS I. J. G.
Summary
Fokker Space has developed a radiant cryocooler for space applications that provides a cooling capacity of 0.75 watt at 123 K and 0.96 watt at 175 K. The design is based on a two-stage radiator concept with a parabolic reflector and a cover door and release system. Additionally, a thermal bus unit has been developed to transfer the heat from the source to the radiators. All suspensions are of a glass reinforced plastic type to minimize parasitic heat leaks.
