THE EFFECT OF IRREVERSIBILITIES ON THE PERFORMANCE OF ABSORPTION SYSTEMS.

Summary

IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF THERMODYNAMIC LOSSES ON THE PERFORMANCE OF ABSORPTION SYSTEMS, THE COP, THE EXTERNAL SOURCES TEMPERATURES AND THE ENTROPY GENERATED IN A REFRIGERATING MACHINE WORKING WITH LITHIUM BROMIDE-WATER ARE CALCULATED, AND COMPARED WITH THE VALUES OBTAINED IN THE SAME MACHINE, WORKING IN A < QUASI REVERSIBLE > WAY. AN ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE EFFICIENCY OF TRANSPORT PROCESSES ON THE COP AND EXTERNAL TEMPERATURES IS CARRIED OUT. IT IS SHOWN THAT THE MAIN EFFECT OF IRREVERSIBLE PROCESSES IS NOT THE COP VARIATION, BUT AN UNDESIRABLE VARIATION OF THE EXTERNAL SOURCE TEMPERATURE.
