Type of article: Article

Summary

NEWLY OBTAINED EPR SPECTRA OF H AND D ATOMS STABILIZED IN SUPERFLUID HELIUM ARE PRESENTED AND THEIR EVOLUTIONS UNDER ISOTHERMAL CONDITIONS (T = 1.8 K) AND UPON HEATING UP TO 4.2 K ARE DESCRIBED. THE DATA OBTAINED FOR THE SYSTEMS CONTAINING HYDROGEN AND DEUTERIUM IMPLY THAT THE EXCHANGE REACTIONS BETWEEN ATOMS AND MOLECULES OF HYDROGEN ISOTOPES DO OCCUR ACTUALLY IN SOLID MATRIX AT TEMPERATURES 1.8-4.2 K.
