THE FIN-EFFICIENCY OF A TWO-ROW PLATE-FIN TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER.

Author(s) : TIAN Y., CHEN Z., TAO W.

Summary

THE FLUID TEMPERATURE VARIES MODERATELY ALONG THE HEAT EXCHANGER, AND THE LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS ARE DIFFERENT FROM PLACE TO PLACE ON THE FIN SURFACE. NUMERICAL CALCULATION SHOWED THAT THE FIN-EFFICIENCY OF A TWO-ROW PLATE-FIN TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER INCREASED BY ABOUT 10% WHEN THE FLUID TEMPERATURE VARIATION WAS TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. THE LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT HAS LESS INFLUENCE. THE INCREASE IS ONLY 4.5% WHEN USING THE NAPHTHALENE SUBLIMATION TECHNIQUE. AN IMPROVED DESIGN FORMULA OF A PLATE-FIN-TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER IN AN AIR-CONDITIONER HAS ALSOBEEN GIVEN IN THIS PAPER.
