Summary

A PHOTOCHROMIC FLOW VISUALIZATION TECHNIQUE WAS USED TO DEMONSTRATE QUALITATIVELY THE EXISTENCE OF A LARGE VARIETY OF DIFFERENT FLOW FIELDS DURING DROP FORMATION AND RELEASE IN LIQUID-LIQUID TWO-PHASE SYSTEMS. THIS LARGE VARIETY OF POSSIBLE FLOW FIELDS MUST BE VIEWED AS ONE REASON FOR FAILING TO PREDICT HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER DURING DROP FORMATION AND RELEASE WITH RELIABILITY AND ACCURACY.
