Summary
The advantages of district heating and cooling systems (DHC) in terms of energy efficiency are discussed. The superiority of DHC to individual heating and cooling system in energy efficiency was proved by survey data and detailed analysis of two DHC plants. The role of DHC in the future is discussed from the viewpoints of operation, commissioning, planning and urban heat island mitigation.
