The future of low charge NH3 refrigerating plant.
Number: 0003
Author(s) : JENSEN S.
Summary
This paper presents examples of centralized, low charge NH3 refrigerating plant. In addition, it includes graphical representation of recorded Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) values for several such systems and compares these with conventional liquid overfeed ammonia plant. The paper further postulates an energy performance penalty associated with liquid overfeed of 30% and proposes wide ranging adoption of low charge NH3 technologies to address this issue.
