Summary

The authors studied nine cultivars of apples from the hilly zone of Transsylvania. The ripening process in cold-stored fruit can be observed on the basis of the biosynthetic activity of the ethylene. The results obtained emphasize a biosynthetic potential simultaneously with an emission of ethylene into the extracell space being a cultivar's characteristic.
