The leaks in the basket: CFC-chain research in the Netherlands.
Author(s) : DIJKSTRA E.
Summary
The Netherlands are the third producer of CFCs in the world, with a production of some 14,000 tons. A total of between 1,500 and 2,000 tons of refrigerants are leaking to the environment from all cooling installations together (CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs) per year (10% of historic stock). Within cooling technology the installations on ships show the highest leakage percentage. Some 600 tons of (H)(C)FC materials are leaking into the environment from foams and isolation materials annually.
