Summary
In 1950 a Cold Chain Mission from 12 European countries to the USA was carried out in connection with the Marshall Plan. The aim of the Mission and the situation at that moment are reviewed. Some recommendations of the Mission are mentioned and its impact on the development of cold chains in Western Europe is discussed.
