Summary
Three test liquids are used, FC72, R113 and methanol. The results lead to a modified version of Sun and Lienhard's hydrodynamic critical heat flux correlation for cylindrical geometries which was developed in 1970. The local dryout mechanism is governed by boiling incipience phenomena. A method for predicting the local dryout heat flux for these conditions is presented.
